Performance Optimization

Faster sites, measured in revenue.

We fix slow websites and applications for UK and US businesses. Core Web Vitals, page speed, and backend tuning, with before-and-after numbers on the metrics that matter: rankings, bounce rate, and conversion.

Why teams call us

Slow sites lose money in ways that never show up as a bug

Nobody files a ticket saying the site was too slow. They just leave, and it looks like a marketing problem.

You are failing Core Web Vitals

Search Console shows red, rankings have drifted, and the developer says the site "feels fine on my machine." It usually does, on a fast laptop and fiber.

Mobile is much worse than desktop

Most of your traffic is on mid-range phones and mobile networks. That is the experience Google measures and most of your customers actually get.

It got slower and nobody knows when

A tag here, a plugin there, an unoptimized image set. Performance decays gradually until someone finally checks.

What we build

How we make things faster

Measure first, fix what actually matters, then make sure it stays fixed.

01

Diagnosis

Find the real bottleneck instead of guessing at it.

Real user data, not just lab scores

A perfect Lighthouse score on your laptop means little. We look at field data from actual visitors on real devices and networks, then fix what is hurting real people.

  • Core Web Vitals field data review
  • Waterfall and render-blocking analysis
  • Third-party script cost breakdown
  • Backend and database profiling

Third-party script audit

Every tag, pixel, and chat widget priced in milliseconds so marketing can make an informed trade.

Prioritized findings

Each issue scored by impact and effort, so you can fix the top three and capture most of the gain.

Business impact modeling

We estimate what the current speed is costing in conversion, so the work can be justified in revenue rather than in scores.

02

Frontend Optimization

What the browser has to do before your customer sees anything.

Core Web Vitals work

Targeting LCP, INP, and CLS specifically: image and font strategy, render-blocking resources, main thread work, and layout stability.

Asset optimization

Modern image formats, responsive sizing, font subsetting, and lazy loading.

JavaScript reduction

Code splitting, deferred loading, and removing libraries that are doing very little for their weight.

CDN and caching

Edge caching, cache headers, and compression configured properly rather than left at defaults.

03

Backend & Infrastructure

Server time your visitors are waiting through.

Database and query tuning

Indexing, N+1 elimination, and query rewrites. Often the single biggest win on dynamic sites.

Server-side caching

Object, page, and fragment caching with invalidation that does not serve stale prices or stock.

Monitoring so it stays fast

Performance budgets in CI and ongoing field monitoring, so a future release cannot quietly undo the gains.

Hosting review

Sometimes the honest answer is that the hosting is the bottleneck.

How we measure

Numbers before opinions

Everything we change is measured before and after, on real devices, so improvement is demonstrated rather than claimed.

  • Core Web Vitals
  • Lighthouse
  • WebPageTest
  • Chrome DevTools
  • CrUX
  • GA4
  • New Relic
  • Datadog
  • Cloudflare
  • Redis
  • Varnish

What every engagement includes

  • Baseline measurement on real devices
  • Prioritized findings scored by impact
  • Before and after field data
  • Performance budget added to CI
  • Third-party script cost breakdown
  • Documentation of every change
  • 30 days of monitoring after handover
How we work

From audit to sustained speed

Measure, fix, verify, then protect the result.

01

Baseline

Field and lab measurement on real devices.

02

Diagnose

Find the actual bottlenecks, front and back.

03

Prioritize

Score fixes by impact against effort.

04

Fix

Implement in order of value, testing as we go.

05

Questions

Performance optimization FAQs

The questions we get asked on almost every first call.

How much does performance optimization cost?

An audit starts around [$2,500] and an optimization sprint around [$8,000]. Most clients start with the audit, because it tells you whether you need a week of work or a rebuild, and the finding usually pays for itself.

Does site speed actually affect SEO?

Core Web Vitals are a confirmed ranking signal, though content relevance matters more. The larger effect is usually commercial: slow pages increase bounce and reduce conversion regardless of where you rank.

Our Lighthouse score is good but the site feels slow. Why?

Lighthouse is a lab test on a simulated device. Real users are on varied phones and networks, and INP in particular often looks fine in the lab and poor in the field. We work from field data for that reason.

How much faster can you realistically make our site?

On sites that have never been optimized, halving load time is common and larger gains happen regularly. We give you an honest estimate after the audit rather than promising a number up front.

Will we have to remove our marketing tags?

Not necessarily. We measure what each one costs in milliseconds and present the trade-off. Often the fix is loading them differently rather than removing them, and sometimes we find tags nobody uses anymore.

How do we stop it getting slow again?

We add performance budgets to your build pipeline so a change that regresses speed fails before it ships, and we set up field monitoring so gradual decay is visible early.

Do you work on any platform?

Yes. WordPress, Shopify, custom React and Node applications, and most other stacks. The diagnostic approach is the same even when the specific fixes differ.
